Historical sketch of the history of Branford and North Branford and the tract of land called Totoket, from the Indian word "toket", meaning "at the tidal river." From the first purchase of land by Theophilus Eaton from the Mattabeseck Indians to the separation of North Branford (northern section) from Branford (southern section) in 1831.
