Description

Children from all walks of life pause before the charging desk to have books checked before taking them home. Boys and girls from homes where parents speak little English learn from books much of the folk lore of our country. Often the youngest borrowers sit on the movable steps shown in the picture to look at the pictures in books which they plan to borrow. The original books in this section were given by Mrs. Ella Rose in memory of her husband, a native of North Branford.
Near the corner may be seen a sampler worked by a little North Branford girl a hundred years ago. This, and other similar articles, were the gifts of Miss Ethna Hoadley. Two windows behind the charging desk give light for the librarian's work table, and in the corner to the left are book cases for books not ready for circulation.
